My first time painting the Sydney Opera House ✨💕

You’d think after all the time of living here, and many years of having a painting practice, I would have attempted it before… but I was honestly scared and thought I wouldn’t be able to pull it off. Here’s why:

1. I don’t sketch or draw. For a long time I thought I couldn’t possibly ever draw something so complicated. Plus, I don’t like drawing and usually just jump right into painting. I thought that approach wouldn’t work with this.

2. Paintings like this need planning. I don’t have the patience to do that.

3. It won’t fit my style jn watercolour, I’ll have to paint it in oils and I don’t currently have the setup for that.

You know what? It turns out I was wrong about all three! I chose to start small so it was less overwhelming. On a small paper I had less room to get confused about proportions. I started painting without a sketch or planning it out, like I always do. I put down a solid background in the colours I love. I stopped worrying and just painted. What do you think about how it turned out?

My first big art market stall, exactly one year ago today 🤯 What a whirlwind life has been since then! If you’ve been following my stories over the last 12 months, you know I spent the year slow travelling to a few of my favourite places, hanging out with (almost) all of my favourite people! From giving up my apartment in Germany, to travelling to Koh Samui to see my brother again after 4 years (!), to my beloved Sydney, a summer in Germany, and now fulfilling a lifelong dream of being in New York, it’s been an absolutely incredible year!

Thank you to all of you who’ve stuck around, and all who have supported me while the business was taking a backseat. I’m so grateful for each and every one of you 🥹 I’ve been working on setting up the shop again for many months and now we are back open for business! I’m more than ready to pursue this and many more of my art business dreams in the coming year and beyond, I truly can’t wait! And hopefully there will be many more opportunities like this to meet you in person!

💇🏽‍♀️ I did a thing! It must have been 15 years since my hair was this “short”. I know it’s still long, but for a very long time my only hair goal was to have the longest possible, beautiful hair 😅

But over the last year it had grown to a length that started to really annoy me and I knew it also didn’t look as good anymore 🤷🏽‍♀️

I’ve thought about cutting it often over the years, even to a short bob, but I never did. So for me, this was a huge step! We cut off about a third+ of the length and added lots of layers. I’m really, really happy with it! 💖

Returning to the grid after a long absence with this Flamingo 🦩🌴 from my sketchbook 📖

The last 3 months were really hard. My love Lily suddenly passed away on May 4th 💔🌈🐈

2021 was my first proper year in business and it was absolutely amazing ✨ It was a huge year for me in really cultivating my art practice and so many other ways! I set and achieved many goals and was really dedicated to my vision 👁

2022 then hit really differently with many big life changes. I achieved my lifelong dreams of becoming Australian and working 100% remotely. And then I moved back to Germany to center myself, work through old wounds and call big changes into my life. As a result, I didn’t focus on my business as much as I would have liked 🤔

For 2023 I’m setting new goals and want to really align my life and business with my values! May it bring balance, abundance and happiness to all of us✨

Dreaming of summer today ☀️🌸🌼🍐🍓

I accidentally took a pretty long break from Instagram. I didn’t plan to, but between moving into my own place and travelling to see family, it just happened. This whole year has been a huge transition for me and I think I’m still catching up. But now that I’ve settled in a little bit I feel ready to get back into painting, sharing, and soon opening my shop up again!

This is a reminder that it’s ok to do what feels right, to trust your intuition. Because guess what, nothing bad happened while I was offline. Sure, I didn’t make strides in my business, but I needed the downtime to focus on other things. I unpacked my entire life from boxes, some of which had been in storage for 10 years. I saw some amazing artists perform, I reconnected with an old friend, I played with my niece and nephew, had wine with my sister, hung out with my friends. I did what I could manage during the time, and that was enough. Thanks to my dear friend Liz who reminded me of this today.

My efforts are enough, I am enough, and so are you 💕

Butterflies 🦋 Lately I’ve been seeing them everywhere in Sydney, and even on our trip around South Australia we’ve spotted some pretty much every day!

A good friend told me they’re like guardian angels. I’ve come think of them as a reassuring sign that I’m on the right path 🛤✨

🌻🇺🇦 The tragedy of the last week has been so devastating, I don’t know how to express everything that I feel, think, or want to say. So I’ve chosen to join fellow artists in showing my solidarity with Ukraine and trying to spread a little bit of beauty and hope.

It’s easy to feel helpless but lets not forget that there are still things we can do. We can speak up and express solidarity, we can donate to organisations that help the people on the ground, we can offer help to a stranger in need, we can lend an ear to someone who needs to talk. Hello! It’s been a while since I showed up on my grid, and in your feed! It’s been a very busy few months of making and selling Christmas products, and I finally have a minute to give you an update 🎄
Firstly, I wanted to thank everyone that has supported me this year, from the bottom of my heart! This is me at my very first in-person event last Sunday! I absolutely loved it 💕
Secondly, I wanted to remind you that I’m closing my shop for the holidays this Friday at 12pm. I FINALLY get to travel home to see my family and friends after two long years! You will still be able to order but nothing will be shipped until I return to Sydney in late January ✨

I hadn’t planned to start selling yet, but decided to make these cards in a whim and put them out there. I ended up adding a few baubles but that was it🎄
